Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) is a credential for learning and performance professionals offered by the ASTD Certification Institute (ASTD National).  It is broad-based and addresses nine areas of expertise as defined by the ASTD Competency Model. 

Why do certifications exist?  In a word:  credibility.

Certifications help to ensure that certain standards or levels of expertise have been attained.  Certifications result in credentials that provide some level of assurance that people can do what they claim to be able to do.
