ASTD Sacramento Website - What's the Difference between a Directory Listing and a Member Profile?

First, it’s good to know there are two types of users for the website. When anyone first logs into the website (to register for an event, etc.), they are asked to create a user name and password.

When a person joins as a member, the application form creates a profile with employment information, additional contact information and other options. Members can opt out of having their profiles viewable by others by sending a request to mail@astdsac.org .

Casual visitors and registered users of the website can access the Directory module of the website. After log in, the user receives the screen with several icons including the Directory icon (book). The Directory has various categories of expertise where the visitor can search by a specific skill set (for example: Instructional Design) and receive a list of members with that expertise.

Members are invited to submit several directory listings under the specific category areas. To do so, access the directory icon/module of the website, click Add and fill out the information, selecting the category each time, and submit. You will need to start a new directory listing for each area of expertise in order to be located in several categories.
