3-Part Series - Fundamentals for Professional Trainers (Train-the-Trainer)
An exciting event is coming to Northern California for new trainers or anyone interested in gaining professional training skills. The internationally recognized ASTD (American Society of Training and Development) Competency Model is the foundation behind the high quality, value-driven event for professional skills in assessing, creating, and delivering employee learning and development. Attend this regional event for professional skills provided by experienced instructors of trainers and sponsored by ASTD Sacramento.
Session One – Designing Training Programs
Monday May 24, 8am-12:30pm
Describe the origins and basic elements of Adult Learning Theory.
Define the difference between learning goals and learning objectives.
Define the steps to assess training needs.
Explain learning objects and the related value to sequencing strategies.
Use ADDIE Instructional Design concepts.
Locate resources for a variety of training techniques, or using pre-designed content.
Define your own learning style and design training to address all styles.

Session Two – Developing Training Programs
Friday June 25, 8am-12:30pm
Identify your personal trainer style and create goals for growth areas.
Create materials using professional business and technical writing rules.(Hard copy manuals, effective PowerPoint, flipchart design, online resources)
Discuss elements of eLearning and Webinar programs.

Session Three – Delivering and Evaluating Training Programs
Monday, July 19, 8am-12:30pm
Practice class management tools for a positive learning environment.
Describe the stages of group growth for a positive learning environment.
Successfully facilitate an interactive session.
Add at least six new presentation tools to your trainer tool box.
Describe three types of course evaluations and the revision cycle.
What’s next? How technology impacts adult learning modalities.
▲Application of Skills: Demonstrate new skills by delivering your 15 minute training program and materials. Instructors provide feedback and identify strengths.
Participants who complete all three sessions receive a Certificate of Completion from ASTD Sacramento.
