An exciting event is coming to Northern California for new trainers or anyone interested in gaining professional training skills. The internationally recognized ASTD (American Society of Training and Development) Competency Model is the foundation behind the high quality, value-driven event for professional skills in assessing, creating, delivering, and evaluating employee learning and development. Attend this regional event for professional skills provided by experienced instructors of trainers and sponsored by ASTD Sacramento.

Session One – Adult Learning Theory and Training Needs Assessment
Thursday, March 17, 8am-12:30pm 

Describe the origins and basic elements of Adult Learning Theory.
Identify the difference between learning goals and learning objectives.
Define the steps to assess training needs.
Design a Workgroup or Subject Matter Expert plan for success.
Create a Project Plan.
Application of Skills: Create a real-life training design and receive feedback.

Session Two – Designing Training Programs
Friday, March 18, 8am-12:30pm 
Explain learning objects and the related value of sequencing strategies.
Use ADDIE Instructional Design concepts.
Locate resources for a variety of training techniques, or using pre-designed content.
Working with Subject Matter Experts to define and develop content.
Discover your own learning style and design training to address all styles.
Application of Skills: Design learning goals and objectives, sequence learning, and experiment with techniques for a real-life training program.
 
Session Three – Developing Training Programs
Thursday, April 28, 8am-12:30pm
Identify your personal trainer style and create goals for growth areas.
Create materials using professional business and technical writing rules.
Development elements of hard copy manuals, effective PowerPoint presentations, flipchart designs, and online resources.
Discuss elements of eLearning and Webinar programs.
Application of Skills: Develop materials for a real-life program and receive feedback.

Session Four – Delivering  and Facilitating Training Programs
Full Day, Friday, April 29, 8am- 12:00pm
 

Define the difference between delivery and facilitation of program content.
Practice class management tools for a positive learning environment.
Describe the stages of group growth for enhanced learning.
Successfully facilitate an interactive session.
Add at least six new presentation tools to your trainer tool box.
What’s next? How technology impacts adult learning modalities. 
Application of Skills: Demonstrate new skills by participating in hands on activities.

Session Four – Evaluating Training Programs
Friday, April 29, 1pm-4:30pm
 
 
Discuss the multiple purposes of program evaluation.
Review Kirkpatrick's Four Levels of Evaluation theory.
Describe three types of course evaluations and what type fits different program types.
Discover the benefits of the training plan revision cycle.
Evaluate the purpose of a Project End Report and list useful elements to include.
Complete and discuss the Fundamentals program evaluation form.
Application of Skills: Draft an evaluation form that fits a real-life training program.

 
Participants who complete all four sessions receive a Certificate of Completion from ASTD Sacramento.

Please Note: This is one, extremely value-priced fee, regardless of a participant's availability to attend all four sessions. It is not possible to divide the fee by attendance dates.
